The Gospel is Matthew 15:21-28 where Jesus speaks with the Syr0-Phonecian woman. The NL begins a three week series on Sabbath. It pairs this with Matthew 11:28-30 for the Gospel reading.
Where is God in the Storm? | Visual Resources for Both Lectionaries on August 13, 2023
This post offers visual resources for the Revised Common Lectionary and the Narrative Lectionary for August 13, 2023. The RCL takes us to three powerful stories this week. First, we look at Joseph in Genesis for two weeks. Second, we read the story of Elijah and God on Mt. Horeb. Finally, we witness Jesus walking on water in Matthew 14:22-33. The NL concludes a series on Wisdom literature by looking at The Song of Solomon. It pairs this with Mark 8:35-37 for the Gospel reading.

The RCL take us to the story of Isaac and Rebekah in Genesis 24 and meditates on love and marriage as a place of refuge in the Psalms. The prophets and the Gospel reading depict the Messiah as the one who has conquered the enemy through peace, not violence and offers a place of refuge for all who are weary. Set Free | Visual Resources for the Lectionary on July 2, 2023
This post offers visual resources for the Revised Common Lectionary for July 2, 2023. The RCL take us to the story of Abraham when God tells him to sacrifice his son Isaac in Genesis 22, Paul’s declaration that we are set free from sin in Romans 6, and the final section Jesus’ sending of the twelve on a mission in Matthew 10. It is also Independence Day weekend in the USA, so it is appropriate to explore a theme of being set free. The NL continues a three-part series on 2 Peter.

The RCL take us to the story of Hagar when she leaves Ishmael to die in Genesis 21, Paul’s promise of new life in the death and resurrection of baptism in Romans 6, and the final section Jesus’ sending of the twelve on a mission in Matthew 10.
