This is Paul’s last letter. During the reign of Nero, when Christians were being blamed for just about all the evils in the Empire, Paul was arrested and placed in a dungeon in Rome. From this dismal place, Paul writes to his beloved son (spiritually speaking) Timothy to encourage him and give him the charge to carry on the ministry when he is gone. Shortly after this letter was written, Paul was beheaded.
