Food for Thought

We begin Ordinary Time this week. This is the season where we focus on discipleship and what it means to follow Jesus in the normalcy of life. The collection of texts this week remind us that the good news is God’s propensity to bring dead things to life. God promises to make two barren people fruitful beyond imagination. Hosea promises that on the third day God would restore Israel to life. The Psalms declare the LORD of creation. Matthew tells the stories of God calling a tax collector to community, a dead girl to life, and a sick woman to wholeness.

No matter how bad things may seem, there is hope. God’s promises are true. God is faithful to God’s promises. Let us follow Jesus into life.
