Promise | Lent 3 | Visual Resources for Both Lectionaries on March 3, 2024
Visual Resources for the Lectionaries
This post offers visual resources for the Revised Common Lectionary and the Narrative Lectionary for the third week of Lent, March 3, 2024. In the RCL, God spoke words of Promise at Mt. Sinai. Psalm 19 says the heavens declare the glory of God and Torah. Jesus cleansed the Temple in John 2 and promised to rebuild it in three days. Paul says that the word of the cross is foolishness to the wisdom of the world. The NL takes us to Jesus’ parable of the rented vineyard.

Narrative Lectionary
The reading this week is Mark 12:1-12. We skip over the Triumphal Enter in Mark 11 because we want to save that for Palm Sunday. However, it is important to note that it has happened prior to the parable of the Vineyard in the text for this week. In fact, Jesus has entered the city three times on three days. This is his third visit and his relationship/conflict with the religious leaders is intensifying.
