A Cartoonist’s Guide to Lent

The Biblical Source for Lent

The season of Lent is a portion of the liturgical church calendar when disciples of Jesus seek to live into the journey that Jesus made from the Mount of Transfiguration to the moment he entered the city of Jerusalem. This was the portion of Jesus’ life when it became clear to him that he must go to Jerusalem and be executed by crucifixion. He warned his disciples that the cost of following him was great.

A Visual Resource for Students

What is Lent? This PowerPoint introduces the student to the idea that Lent is like a journey of spiritual spring cleaning. We walk for 40 days, practicing the disciplines of fasting, prayer, and service to prepare our hearts for Easter.

The Student Book pages refer to the Here We Stand Student Book from Augsburg Fortress. I use this with our Confirmation Students.
