Reading the Heart of the Story

Some people have asked if there is a particular order in which to read the Bible. If you want to get the basic flow of the story, without getting bogged down by Laws and redundancy, then the following chart may prove helpful. I first encountered this in Dr. Benware’s Old Testament Survey class at Moody back in 1986. By reading the larger books that have the red arrow through them, you will see the story of Israel. All the other books of the Bible are placed around this spinal chord to show how they relate to the time period of the main storyline.
